NRA Annual Convention Floods Dallas with Guns Following the One-Year Anniversary of the Allen Mall Shooting
May 17, 2024
Washington, D.C. — Ahead of the NRA’s annual convention this weekend from May 17-19 in Dallas, Texas, where their recently elected board members will be sworn in, the newest round since the the former disgraced and corrupt president Wayne LaPierre resigned, Guns Down America’s Executive Director Hudson Munoz released the following statement:
“The juxtaposition of Dallas hosting the NRA annual meeting a week after the one-year anniversary of the Allen, Texas mall shooting—just 30 minutes away—is deeply disturbing. The NRA convention will bring a surge of firearms and ammunition into a city that saw a rise in homicide in 2023. As Dallas taxpayers prepare to spend $138K to host the NRA convention, Guns Down America is calling for reinvestment of the event's tax revenue back into community gun violence prevention efforts for the city of Dallas.”
