We organized almost half a million consumers to demand FedEx stop offering special benefits to NRA members.
Learn MoreFedEx was the focus of a campaign from Guns Down calling on the company to stop offering massive discounts to members of the National Rifle Association, a business arrangement that subsidized the NRA’s dangerous agenda. The program offered NRA members discounts up to 26 percent on FedEx shipping and was marketed by the NRA to members as a benefit of membership.
Following the shooting in Parkland, Florida Guns Down America and its partners re-launched the campaign at DropTheNRA.org with a petition that attracted almost 500,000 signatures and urged thousands of people to email FedEx CEO Fred Smith to cut ties with the gun lobby.
While far too many lives were lost to gun violence since this campaign was launched, we are pleased to see that FedEx joined at least 28 other companies that finally understand that working with the NRA is not only the wrong thing to do, but bad for business. We will continue to hold companies large and small accountable who subsidize the gun lobby’s dangerous agenda.
Led by Guns Down, the campaign generated massive response from people all across the country who signed the petition.
Participating organizations included: Campaign To Unload, Color of Change, Coalition To Stop Gun Violence, Guns Down, Media Matters for America, Moms Rising, Newtown Action Alliance, One Pulse, Pride Fund To End Gun Violence, and States United to Prevent Gun Violence.
